Industry experts such as Gartner have been covering this progression for years; they predict that the hybrid cloud market, which was once valued at $85 billion in 2021, will more than triple by 2027. With cloud initiatives taking center stage over more traditional, on-premises approaches, enterprises across the globe are left wondering how to future-proof their existing data infrastructure.

It’s a tough question to answer. Not only do modern-day businesses need to execute on the scalability, performance, and security they need for their data, but they are also forced to explore constant innovations in the market relating to AI and data intelligence.

To cut through all the noise, Nasuni conducted its own industry research, which you can access in our first annual report: “The Era of Hybrid Cloud Storage: Research into the impact of digital transformation, AI, and security on storage strategies.” After surveying more than a thousand purchasing decision makers in the US, UK, and DACH regions, we came across some very interesting findings.

We’re pulling back the curtain on the various digital transformations seen in the market today. For example, 97% of organizations have or are planning a cloud initiative. More specifically, 65% of organizations are planning to implement a hybrid cloud storage model within the next year. These numbers are not entirely surprising; after all, traditional and static storage systems cannot protect against the monumental rise in cybersecurity threats, and are not built to ‘play nice’ with the sudden influx of new AI technologies. Our research echoes this sentiment, with 45% of companies citing data security as a high priority when making cloud investments, and 48% citing AI initiatives.
