Q: Thank you for joining me, Kathleen! Can you tell us about your career journey and what initially drew you to Nasuni?
A: Absolutely! My career path has been quite unique. I originally went to school for physical therapy and practiced for 20+ years full time and part time. In tandem, I decided to dive into the corporate world as an administrative assistant. I worked for a venture capital firm for 10+ years, took some time off to raise 3 kids then returned to the business world ending up at Nasuni over 7 years ago. I actually worked in Talent Acquistion for 6 years where I initiated and ran the intern program as well as supported the recruiting team. I have since transitioned over to the executive administrator role supporting our CRO, CMO and the sales org. I love every minute of it! It is fast paced fun filled with ups and downs, highs and lows, and never a dull moment. I also work with the best people on the planet, which makes my job most enjoyable and keeps me returning each day.
Q: What does your typical day-to-day look like at Nasuni?
My typical day-to-day as executive administrator involves managing tasks for Nasuni’s CRO, Pete Agresta, and CMO, Asim Zaheer. A significant part of my role includes handling logistical work like calendaring and scheduling, which is much more complicated than it sounds. Our C-Suite executives are incredibly busy, so on any given day, I might receive 20 urgent and time-sensitive requests involving the same person. Our customers are always the priority, so managing the requests requires much problem-solving and puzzle-fitting.
Additionally, I handle a lot of random requests from various departments. I am involved in planning our Revenue Kickoff for our ‘go-to-market’ team. This involves everything from securing hotels, researching pricing, preparing proposals, and estimating attendance numbers. I also help support the enablement team with their all-hands meetings, ensuring they have the necessary conference room, IT support, and other logistical needs are met. My favorite part of my job is seeing happy faces after a successful event or donning some new swag I procured.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working with the executive team?
What stands out to me is their transparency. They are incredibly open with their employees, which reflects how much they genuinely care about the team. Beyond that, they’re all exceptionally smart. They’re always willing to share and teach others—I learn something new from them every day.
What I appreciate most, though, is that they’re fun to be around. Working in an environment where you enjoy the company of your colleagues and can call them friends is truly special. This unique dynamic is a big contributor as to why I’ve been here for seven years. It’s been great working with this team—I’d happily work with them for the rest of my life. We challenge and support each other, pushing ourselves into new directions where we’re forced to learn and grow. Sometimes that means doing things outside your comfort zone, but that’s where real growth happens. Everyone at Nasuni wants to build each other up because we believe that when everyone succeeds, the company succeeds. Our executive team embodies that spirit every day.
Q: Nasuni is renowned for valuing its employees highly. With your background in recruiting at Nasuni, how would you describe the ideal Nasuni employee?
The ideal Nasuni employee is definitely someone who is driven and motivated. Everyone at Nasuni works incredibly hard—so much so that you could send an email at 10:00 PM and still receive a response. While that isn’t necessarily something we encourage, it speaks volumes about the dedication and commitment of our team.
When interviewing candidates, we look for individuals who have grit, are hungry for growth, and are willing to put in the effort. The questions candidates ask during the interview process are key, as they often reveal whether or not they possess these qualities. Work culture is a vital part of why Nasuni is so successful. Our employees aren’t just skilled; they’re eager to contribute and collaborate. We seek people who will excel in this environment.
We also consider their past work experience. For instance, those who have worked in demanding environments like the hospitality industry often demonstrate strong motivation. What matters isn’t necessarily the positions you’ve held or the companies you’ve worked for, but what you’ve learned and gained from those experiences and how they will have an impact to ones success at Nasuni
Q: You have been at Nasuni for almost 7 years. As Nasuni continues to grow, what excites you most about the company’s future?
I’m excited to watch Nasuni grow, not necessarily grow in size, but to see how successful it can become. Especially after the recent private equity purchase, I’m curious to see where we go from here, whether that means being acquired, going public, or continuing on our growth path. It’s incredible to see how far we have come, but it’s more exciting to see how far we’ll go.
