NATICK, Mass. – March 26, 2013 – Nasuni ®, a provider of enterprise storage to large, distributed organizations, today invites business and IT leaders to attend an AIAG breakfast seminar with Nasuni CEO Andres Rodriguez and Inteva CIO Dennis Hodges next month. The session features a discussion of the unique challenges automotive manufacturers face with storage infrastructure in the management of large files, and in providing uniform storage and fast storage access to dozens of locations and teams spread around the globe.
At the seminar, attendees will learn how Nasuni is helping Inteva provide a unified storage infrastructure with fast access to the global fileshare from more than 40 locations spread out across the globe. Rodriguez will speak to the specific storage challenges that manufacturers face, and how Nasuni can address them while simultaneously making storage simpler and more cost effective to manage.
Details include:
- What: An open discussion of storage infrastructure and how Inteva is implementing Storage-Infrastructure-as-a-Service (SIaaS)
- When: Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 8 a.m.
- Where: AIAG Offices, 26200 Lahser Rd, Southfield, MI 48033
- Cost: There is no cost to attend.
- Registration: Those who wish to attend are asked to register in advance on Nasuni’s website at: http://www6.nasuni.com/aiag_registration.html
“Manufacturers have been trying to solve storage infrastructure problems for a long time now,” Rodriguez said. “Dealing with very large files and supporting many offices around the world are major pain points for the industry. Thanks to recent advancements in storage infrastructure technologies, however, manufacturers now have the ability to centrally manage storage at all their locations and to give users fast access to the corporate fileshare without making an impact on the capital budget.”
Inteva, a tier-1 automotive parts manufacturer, experienced the same challenges many automotive manufacturers are struggling to solve. Rapid growth had doubled the number of Inteva’s offices to more than 40, spread across 18 countries on four continents. Engineers based in Germany and India needed six hours to transfer CAD files between offices, which dramatically decreased productivity. In addition, Hodges needed to update and standardize the storage infrastructure, which consisted of a wide variety of older equipment. Finally, Hodges needed to accomplish these tasks while keeping his IT capital investment to 1 percent of revenue.
“We needed a solution that could guarantee a consistent experience for our many distributed offices, especially in the European market,” Hodges said. “After we saw Nasuni, we knew this was exactly what we’d been searching for. Our engineers would no longer have to wait hours for files to arrive, and we could finally provide uniform access to the fileshare across all our offices. The fact that we could gain all these capabilities without having to dip into our capital budget was the icing on the cake.”
Hodges enlisted Nasuni’s Storage-Infrastructure-as-a-Service product as the primary storage solution in all of the company’s manufacturing plants, engineering, finance, sales, and marketing offices. The implementation will give Inteva’s engineers fast access to the data in every office, eliminating wait times for CAD files and freeing IT from massive backups and operational problems. Hodges did not need to increase his capital investment because Nasuni charges a terabyte per year subscription for its storage service.
